This September, the Kickin' Cancer Team will participate in the 15th annual "Heat It To Beat It" event. This event raises awareness of and research funds for a unique surgery and treatment of abdominal cancers. Lovingly known as "Hot Chemo Marinade," by me, this is the surgery that saved my life 7 years ago!! YES it's been SEVEN YEARS! 

The Institute for Cancer Care at Mercy is one of only a handful of medical institutions in the country that offer this treatment and is dedicating extensive research to the use of HIPEC against cancers of the abdomen, organs within the abdominal cavity, and ovarian cancer.

"Heat It To Beat It" refers to this use of the heated chemotherapy. This event is our chance to give back and to raise awareness and much-needed funds to continue the research that brings us this life saving treatment. Without it, I wouldn't be reaching out to you today.
