This September, I will be participating in the 16th Annual “Heat It To Beat It” walk, and I invite you to join me in making this a success by donating on my fundraising page! 

This event was launched sixteen years ago to raise awareness and funds for research into a unique surgery and treatment for abdominal cancers. 

As a ten-year survivor, I have experienced firsthand the benefits of this annual fundraiser, which is why I am participating in “Heat It To Beat It.” 

The spread of cancer throughout the abdomen is known as peritoneal carcinomatosis (PC). One effective treatment is Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC), which involves delivering concentrated, heated chemotherapy directly to the abdomen immediately after surgically removing advanced abdominal cancers. HIPEC helps eliminate any remaining cancer cells following surgery. 

“Heat It To Beat It” refers to this heated chemotherapy, which is essential in treating this type of cancer. This event serves as a platform to raise awareness and the necessary funds to advance medical research and promote this life-saving treatment. 

The Institute for Cancer Care at Mercy is one of the leading medical institutions in the United States, offering HIPEC treatment and dedicating extensive research to increasing awareness and understanding of HIPEC within the medical community.
